Used to have a shimano from a friend but was stolen . now having a MTB pass down from my bro . duno is it due to i don't know the technique or stamina but after a while tire out quite fast or izzit due to the choice of bike?

| define tire out quite fast? its normal to be tired since its a excercise. both MTB and roadie can be as tough to ride, if u ride a mtb at 35km/hr and roadie at 45km/hr its gonna be as tough. but of cos roadie is easier to go fast on the road. so it depends on ur needs.
to me if u mostly ride road , a road bike would be better.

if u wana use mostly on road, roadie will suit you better....or u can consider hybrid which is good for road too and occasionally off the road. Tyre is important too, if you are using mtb for road, try changing to slick than nobbies to have lower rolling resistance and better to have rigid fork or lock out fork....hope this help.
