I personally prefer MTB shoe than Road shoe. Easier to cleat on and not so slippery too.

This is very individual liking....as for me, i wear 1 size bigger but than again...some prefer fitting. Go around shops and try on the shoe and decide from there...

Get a shoe which fits u nicely & comfortably. If u want stiffness, get a road shoe. But some prefer mtb shoes even when they're on roadbike.... coz they're not as slippery as road shoe when u walking in them.

Anyway... to each his own. But do take note... mtb shoe uses mtb pedal, while road shoe uses road pedal.
